It’s a noisy world. Between family, work and other social commitments; technology and social media make it even louder. Something I’ll admit I’ve noticed about myself is that I can easily get side-tracked while exploring other accounts on social media. It’s easy to see other successful people in your industry or career that you aspire to have and be tempted to want to compare yourself to them. Even worse trying to copy what they are doing without adding your own creative touch and/or analyzing if the branding or action align with your goals. When I find my thoughts starting to overthink and analyze the accomplishments of others. I remind myself of something very simple but true, which after repeating to myself out loud a few times I snap back to reality.
Everyone is on a different path and journey in their life.
I do believe we all have our own talents and that everyone has a purpose and personal way of sharing those gifts with the world. So it’s useless to compare myself to some else who has their own unique calling and use of their talents. It’s difficult to remember that sometimes, but if you find yourself comparing yourself, remember that you have to start from somewhere. As they say, success doesn’t happen overnight.
There’s a quote I found on Instagram that really spoke to me and I want to close this post with it.
“You need to ignore what everyone else is doing and achieving. Your life is about breaking your own limits and outgrowing yourself to live your best life. Your are not in competition with anyone else. Plan to outdo your past, not other people.”
With that being said, I hope if you are reading this post, you are reminded to stay focused on being a better version of yourself everyday. Stay focused!
