About 2 years ago I came across these two friends, Ryan & Joshua who started a blog called The Minimalists. They mentioned an activity, they call the Mins Game which is pretty much a way to help declutter your space of things that no longer add value. During the month you select, you must get rid of one thing on the first day. On the second, two things. Three items on the third. So forth, and so on. Anything can go! Clothes, furniture, books, electronics, tools, decorations, etc. Since my birthday was in June and June has lovely even 30 days, I figured that it would be a fun activity to help ring in my new year of adulting, lol.
To be honest the first 15 days weren’t too bad, considering the fact that I had quite a few pens, magazines and other random items that I even forgot about. Once day 22 came around, things became a bit more challenging and I had to get a bit creative with the items I chose (shout out to my jewelry tools that I no longer used, making thing a bit easier, lol).
Each day I captured images of the items I realized that I did not use anymore.
Going L to R – Day 1 through 9
Going L to R – Day 10 through 18
Going L to R – Day 19 through 27
Going L to R – Day 28, 29 and 30
Overall, it was a fun way to get rid of junk and declutter my house with this game. It really made me realize how many unnecessary things I was holding onto and it actually felt good being able to let go of the items.
If you haven’t played the #minsgame, would you consider?
