COUNTLESS MILES IN NEW ORLEANS

About 3 weeks ago I decided to take a slightly spontaneous trip to New Orleans, Louisiana, as it’s a city that’s been on my #ToVisit list for a while. It also helped that I have a friend that lives there, who just so happens to be a talented photographer. You can check out some of the outfits I wore during my trip here. I stayed in New Orleans for three nights and stayed at the super cute Howard Henry Hotel.

The Howard Henry is located in the Garden District, right around the corner from Magazine and Charles Street, filled with boutique shops, lively bars, and open bars buzzing with live bands playing authentic New Orleans music. You can read my review here.

I enjoyed the warm weather and the amazing food the most. During my visit I ate at many places, but my favorites were Peche, Dat Dawg, Lola’s and Pizza delicious and of course Cafe Du Monde.

I also enjoyed exploring and taking photos the French Quarters, walking around the streets towards Decature street up until the Harbor. Bourbon Street was also a lot of fun, especially in the evening as the Jazz musicians filled the city air with their soulful tunes. The Frenchman Market was such a beautiful setup, supporting local talent in New Orleans. It was filled with a wide variety art work of all mediums, accessories and many handmade trinkets.

When visiting New Orleans I would definitely recommend packing comfortable athletic shoes or sandals, especially if you plan to explore the city on tours. The weather in New Orleans can be unpredictable at times, so it’s best to bring a jacket or cardigan and also pack an umbrella  just in case. I was able to explore the the heart of the city with Free Wheelin Bike Tours. Go out of the French Quarter, and into the Marigny and the Bywater areas to personally connect with NOLA’s culture and history.

Overall, I had an amazing time in New Orleans and enjoyed being submerged in all it’s rich history and culture. The next time I get a chance to visit, I would love to take time to visit the Audubon Park or even take a Bayou Airboat Ride. The food options are endless and there are restaurants available for every budget. I would definitely go back to visit.

Have you visited New Orleans? If so let me know how it was in the comments below!
