With my blog turning 2 next month, I find myself reflecting on why I started YoursTrulyYinka and how far I’ve come. I realized that I haven’t really shared my jewelry studio and design process on my blog and social media lately and my jewelry line IS the reason why I started blogging in the first place. I’d say that 40% is out of fear, as silly as that sounds, i’m not sure if anyone would even be interested in seeing that side of my craft. Then another 40% is me somehow self-sabotaging and talking myself out of the idea of sharing. While, the last 20% is me honestly forgetting to film while I’m making and designing pieces.
Last night, I was on the phone with Chinn of @faschinndaily and she harshly (with love of course) reminded me that there is no such thing as the “perfect time” #factsoflife. So, if I say I want to do it, then just do it. To be honest, I just had a “picture perfect” vision of having my studio (my basement) look a certain way and hiring a professional videographer to capture me at work.
Soooo I’m nervous, but excited at the same time to share with you guys some jewelry behind the scenes and footage of me making pieces on my YouTube channel within the next coming weeks. Who knows, me putting out my design process footage might encourage someone out there who is thinking of starting a jewelry line or any creative endeavor. If you have idea that pushes you out of your comfort zone, do it!! It never hurts to try!
I would like to end this post with a saying from one of my internet mentors Gary Vaynerchuck “Document, Don’t Create”. With that being said, I can’t wait to continue to share my journey with you guys.
