For today’s post, I want to share some business advice that I’ve received and applied to my entrepreneurial ventures over the years.
- Define your values. What is the rule of thumb to guide your principles?
- Just Start. The only real way to learn is by doing and you can’t afford to sit around waiting for funding, hoping someone else will come along to help you execute on your idea or complain that you don’t have the time.
- Be shameless and showcase your product or business. If you’re not promoting your business, how do you expect to make an impact?
- Know your numbers. Profit margin, taxes, overhead, and any other timelines or analytics that impact your business.
- Focus on your self-awareness. Hire people to help you with your areas of weakness.
- Never stop building meaningful relationships with customers and other people in your industry. People do business with people they like.
- The most valuable thing is your control of time.
- Keep investing in yourself. Take a class, get a certification, learn a new skill, attend a networking event.
- If you’re going to start a business, you need to really love it, because not everybody is going to love it.
- Learn not to take anything personally, and don’t take no for an answer
During this time of uncertainty, I want to encourage everyone who owns a business or is thinking of starting one, to keep pushing through. These might be tough times, but now is the time to innovate and pivot. I hope my advice above motivates you to push through.
