WHY BACKGROUND CHECKS ARE IMPORTANT FOR SMALL BUSINESSES

Whether you’re a digital influencer, creative writer, or graphic designer, background checks are important. Every business- both small and large- should perform background checks on its employees. However, if you own a small business, background checks are even more crucial. For many people starting small businesses centred around the internet, it seems that digital influencers and creative entrepreneurs can be trusted because you can read all about them online. However, that’s not always the case. Here are a few reasons why background checks are so important for your small business:

  • Trust: You need to hire trustworthy and honest employees so you never have to worry about money going missing or tasks going unfinished.
  • Safety: Background checks help protect you, your other employees, and your customers from dangerous people. You can never truly know who someone is based on their resume and an interview, so a background check must be done to ensure that they aren’t dangerous.
  • Saves time and money: As a small business, it’s important that you’re efficient in your hiring process. Unlike larger corporations, you don’t have endless money and time to spend on finding a replacement employee. By running background checks, you can ensure that the person you hire is the best fit for the job- and that they’ll stick around.

At the end of the day, regardless of the type of small business you own, you should perform background checks or at least be able to understand them if you have a Admin or HR team that will be working on them for the company.  As a digital influencer or creative entrepreneur, you should be able to work with people you trust in order to grow your business and build a reputation.
